WHAT ARE WE?

Antisemitism Watch is a nonpartisan 509(a)(2) public charity. Our goal is to combat antisemitism by exposing groups and individuals who espouse and engage in incitement and hatred towards Jewish people.

WHY NOW?

For 7 years we had monitored anti-Jewish hate at No.Antisemitism, a Facebook page that chronicles daily incidents of antisemitism around the world. We watched with alarm as antisemitic acts of hate and violence increased steadily each year, breaking records in many countries in 2021, only to be shattered again in 2022. Anti-Jewish violence reached new highs in the U.S., Canada, and across Europe. Antisemitism at leading universities was rampant, both among faculty and students. Criticism of Israel is often used as a cover for hatred against Jewish people.

THEN CAME OCTOBER 7

Everything we warned about exploded across university campuses and in major world capitals. It was as if the Hamas terrorism had unleashed a tsunami of hatred toward Jews. Hundreds of thousands marched in support of Hamas. Some denied the brutality of the unprovoked attacks on innocent civilians, others justified any degree of barbarism so long as the victims were Jews. “Gas the Jews!” “F**k the Jews” chanted demonstrators from Sydney to London. Jewish students were attacked at America’s most prestigious colleges. Some had to lock themselves in a college library or stay away from campus to keep safe from threatening crowds.

After our 2022 creation, we said there was an urgent need for a nonpartisan organization focused on antisemitism on all sides of the political spectrum. In an opinion piece, “Why Another Antisemitism Watchdog” in Newsweek, we explained that mainstream Jewish organizations had given a free pass to the progressive left in calling out anti-Jewish hatred. “Inside the Fight for the ADL“, in the April 2023 New York Post, explained the need for new, nonpartisan organizations like Antisemitism Watch. The horror of October 7 has given us a renewed mission on a grand scale. We might not be the largest organization to combat antisemitism, but we are laser focused to make an impact and be effective in fighting this historic surge in hatred.
